Why isn't the name filling in on my text?
If your message went out showing something like {contact first name} or {{my first name}} instead of the real names, it's because those spots were typed as plain text instead of the actual personalization tags. When the tag isn't spelled the way Simple Downline expects, there's nothing to swap the real name into, so the words you typed go out as-is.
The correct tag
The contact name tag is {{contactFirstName}}. Other spellings won't be read as a tag.
The easy way to add tags
Use the Add Personalization button under the message body. It drops the tags in correctly, so you don't have to type them by hand.
- Open your message.
- Put your cursor where you want the name.
- Tap Add Personalization and pick the tag you want.
- Save.
Does this affect the News campaign?
No. News and the other built-in campaigns are already written by Simple Downline with the correct tags, so the names fill in the right way. This only affects a message you wrote yourself.
