Contact types: prospects, customers, inactive members, and members
Simple Downline organizes your contacts into types based on their Young Living account status. Understanding these types helps you know who you're messaging and how they got into your contacts.
The four contact types
Prospects
A prospect is a contact without a linked Young Living member record in your current downline. This can include someone you added manually or imported before they enroll.
Prospects appear in your contact list without a linked Young Living member record. When you add someone through More → Contacts → +, the quick form asks for their name and contact details. You can add a Member ID later by editing the contact; the ID alone does not confirm that the person is in your current downline.
Customers
Customers are Young Living members enrolled under you as a customer account type. They've purchased products but haven't joined as a brand partner.
In the app, the Customers segment shows people Young Living currently lists as customers who are still in your downline. Simple Downline mirrors what Young Living reports — if YL has them as a customer, they show as a customer here.
Brand Partners
Brand partners are Young Living members enrolled under you who've joined the business opportunity. They can earn commissions and build their own teams.
Inactive Members
An inactive member is someone who was in your downline but no longer has an active member record in your current downline data. This can happen when:
- They stopped purchasing and their YL membership lapsed
- They moved to a different sponsor
- They're no longer showing in your current-month downline snapshot
The Inactive Members segment is based on whether they're currently in your downline, not on Young Living's account-status label alone. The label "Inactive" can appear on their contact card when they have a member number but no current member record.
Note: Simple Downline does not reclassify someone from Customer to Inactive just because their Young Living account status changed. Customer vs brand partner comes from Young Living's account type. "Inactive" here means they're not currently in your downline after refresh.
How contacts are added
Automatic sync from Young Living
When you connect your Young Living account, the app syncs available downline data. New enrollments appear after Young Living provides them and a successful sync completes. Check the Last synced time on Home if someone is missing.
Manual entry
Tap More → Contacts → + to add someone by hand. Enter their name, phone, and email. To add a Young Living Member ID, open the saved contact and edit it. Check the contact after the next successful Young Living sync to confirm its downline details.
CSV import
If you're coming from another texting service, More → Import lets you bring contacts from a CSV export. The import matches contacts by:
- Young Living member number (if provided in the CSV)
- Email address
- Phone number
Existing contacts are updated rather than duplicated.
